Chelsea planning to offload two high-profile stars at the end of the season

Reports suggest that Chelsea is considering letting go of two prominent players at the season’s end.

According to Graeme Bailey’s report for HITC Sport, Chelsea is evaluating the futures of Raheem Sterling and Thiago Silva.

Sterling arrived at the west London club as a marquee signing during the Todd Boehly era but hasn’t fully met expectations.

Despite being a pivotal player under Mauricio Pochettino, there’s speculation he could be sold in the upcoming summer transfer window.

At 29 years old, Sterling brings a wealth of experience from his time at Liverpool and Manchester City.

The four-time Premier League champion has contributed seven goals and eight assists in 30 appearances across all competitions this season.

While Sterling has arguably been among Chelsea’s better performers, reports suggest he doesn’t align with the club’s future plans.

The recruitment focus, led by co-owner Behdad Eghbali, prioritizes younger talent, leading to a willingness to offload the 29-year-old winger.

Similarly, Thiago Silva’s contract expires soon, and Chelsea has no intention of offering the veteran defender a new deal.

Despite being 39 years old, Silva has been a consistent presence in the team’s defense, making 29 appearances and scoring three goals this season.

Nonetheless, Chelsea aims to rejuvenate its backline and is prepared to part ways with Silva in pursuit of a younger defensive setup.
