Dean Henderson tells Man Utd what to do with De Gea at the club

Dean Henderson has heaped praise on Manchester United keeper David De Gea as the Sheffield loanee prepares for a return to the theatre of dreams.

The 23-year-old goalie will remain with Sheffield until the end of the campaign but is eyeing a starting spot with the Red devils next season.

De Gea has not been very good for United this season and his form came under the spotlight as a result of Roy Keane’s huge criticism after his mistake against Spurs in their first game back after the league was suspended.

However, Henderson has defended the goalie and told United that David De Gea deserves another chance to prove he can return to his best.

Henderson told TV3: “The fans have to remember what he’s [De Gea] done for the last nine years – he’s been phenomenal.

“He’s probably been the best player at United for that time period. He should get another opportunity.

“I’m a young lad. I’m working hard. I’m a fan of the club and I want to play for them. Hopefully I have a career at Man United like David de Gea has.”

And, Henderson also said that he may leave the club if his plan of becoming the Red devils’ No.1 doesn’t become reality.

“I think it’s clear for everyone to know. I want to play for Manchester United and England,” Henderson added.

“It feels like I always hit a brick wall. Maybe I’ll get the opportunity [to play for United], maybe I won’t, then I’ll have to look down a different avenue.”
