Toni Kroos concedes Real Madrid couldn’t have asked for a tougher Champions League draw as they face Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea in the quarter-final.
Madrid knocked out PSG to reach the last eight of the European competition as Karim Benzema delivered a superb second-half hat-trick in the return leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Meanwhile, The London club saw off Lille with wins at Stamford Bridge and in the second leg away in France.
Madrid and Chelsea will now face each other next month to determine who will play against either Manchester City or Atletico Madrid in the semi-final.
And Kroos admits that Madrid will have to be in top form against against Chelsea im their tie. Kross said on his podcast with his brother Felix: ‘They are the current Champions League champions, so it couldn’t be more difficult.
‘There could hardly be a bigger hurdle, but we have to concentrate on ourselves, and if we play well, it’s possible to do a lot of things.
‘We have to try to be very good because that’s what we will have to be to reach the semi-finals.
‘Probably nobody wanted PSG in the last 16, and probably nobody wanted Chelsea in the quarter-finals. ‘But that’s the way things are, and we have to accept them.’
The Blues were unaware as to whether their fans would be in attendance for either leg after Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the Government.
This resulted in Chelsea being restricted, which includes being unable to sell further tickets. But, it has now been confirmed that tickets to the quarter final clash will be available for sale to the club members for both legs.
