Robert Lewandowski names the two best players in the world right now

Robert Lewandowski recently overlooked Harry Kane while discussing the top footballers currently in the game.

Kane made a high-profile move from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich the previous summer, with the transfer reportedly costing £86.4 million.

Following the move, Kane has been on a scoring spree, rapidly adapting to the Bundesliga and finding the net with remarkable frequency.

Yet, even with an impressive tally of 35 goals and 10 assists in 31 Bundesliga matches, Kane’s efforts were not enough to clinch the championship for Bayern, as Bayer Leverkusen emerged victorious.

In a conversation with BILD, Lewandowski, a former Bayern star himself, omitted Kane from his list of the world’s best footballers when prompted.

The Barcelona forward said: “It’s difficult to say because we still have the Euros to play and the decisive matches in the Champions League. But at this moment, Mbappe and Bellingham are the most outstanding players in the world.”

When asked about setting new records and being compared with Lewandowski and Gerd Muller, Kane said: “To be compared with them names is a great thing, especially in the first season, so it means I’m doing something right.

“You know what I’m like, I like to take things in my stride. It’s strange, after playing in the Premier League and England, just to be in a different country – obviously I don’t know the language, thankfully a lot of people speak English.”

He added: “It’s not easy and it takes a bit of getting used to. I’m just trying to take it day by day and slowly learn their ways, the way they do things. Even this [today] is unique. We didn’t have this before [in England] so it’s quite fun.”

Bayern are back in action on Tuesday as they take on Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League.
