Harry Maguire brutally trolls Leeds after play-off final loss to Southampton

Manchester United’s Harry Maguire playfully jabbed at Leeds United following their defeat in the Championship play-off final against Southampton.

Leeds’ aspirations for a swift Premier League comeback were dashed on Sunday when they fell 1-0 to Southampton at Wembley.

A goal from Adam Armstrong in the first half proved decisive, propelling the Saints to a Premier League promotion, where they will join forces with Championship winners Leicester City and second-placed Ipswich Town.

Despite being the marginal favourites after securing third place in the league and a resounding 4-0 victory over Norwich in their play-off semi-final, Leeds faced disappointment.

With the prospect of another year in the Championship and the potential departure of key players in the off-season, Daniel Farke’s team faces a challenging future.

The outcome was surely a cause for celebration among Manchester United supporters, and it seems, for ex-captain Maguire too.

The England defender, who caught the game on television, couldn’t help but tease the Yorkshire side with a playful remark on his Instagram story.

He posted a picture of Southampton supporters celebrating, accompanied by the caption: ‘Hope everyone is having a fantastic Sunday.’

The weekend couldn’t have been better for Maguire, who celebrated winning the FA Cup on Saturday following United’s surprising 2-1 victory against arch-rivals Manchester City.

Although the 31-year-old was sidelined due to an injury, he was at the heart of the festivities, reveling into the wee hours with teammates Rasmus Hojlund and Scott McTominay.

After the cup final he posted on social media: ‘We’re Man United and we’re never guna stop.’
