Man Utd fans in agreement after Joel Glazer’s apology over the Super League

Manchester United supporters want the Glazers out of their club despite Joel Glazer’s apology over their involvement in the European Super League.

United owner penned an open letter to fans admitting the club “got it wrong” when it came to the proposals over the breakaway league.

Part of his letter read: “You made very clear your opposition to the European Super League, and we have listened. We got it wrong, and we want to show that we can put things right.

“Although the wounds are raw and I understand that it will take time for the scars to heal, I am personally committed to rebuilding trust with our fans and learning from the message you delivered with such conviction.

“We continue to believe that European football needs to become more sustainable throughout the pyramid for the long-term.

“However, we fully accept that the Super League was not the right way to go about it.

“In seeking to create a more stable foundation for the game, we failed to show enough respect for its deep-rooted traditions – promotion, relegation, the pyramid – and for that we are sorry.”

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward will now leave Old Trafford at the end of the year while Glazer’s letter did not quell the anger from supporters either.

One fan wrote on social media: “Do you really think United fans are just opposed to you due to the attempt to form the Super League? You have failed to invest appropriately since 2005, you put all your debt on us and you have taken unimaginable amounts of money out of this club. Woodward is going, you’re next.”

Another said: “Get the owners out of the club. Can’t allow the Glazers just to use Woodward as the scapegoat, they are just as much to blame.”

While a third concurred: “Leave our club you melts. Glazers out and get Woodward out now.”

Another furious Red Devils fan commenting: “Joel Glazer goes on about “building trust with the fans” you never had our trust anyway! GET OUT OF OUR CLUB AND SELL UP.”
