Man Utd finally ‘reach agreement’ to sign Moises Caicedo

Moises Caicedo

Manchester United have now secured the transfer of Ecuador international Moises Caicedo, according to reports.

Reports in Ecuador emerged that the midfielder was in ‘advanced talks’ with the Premier League side earlier on Tuesday, with the Red devils outbidding Bundesliga club Red Bull Leipzig.

Seria A giants AC Milan were also reported to be in the hunt for the Independiente del Valle star but United appear to have won the race for his signature.

And according to Diario Extra, agreements have already been reached among both parties and Caicedo will sign the contract soon.

If the deal goes through, Caicedo will be the second player ever from Ecuador to represent Manchester United. The first was Antonio Valencia, who left the club in 2019 after a decade at the theatre of dreams.

And Caicedo has made no secret of his desire to sign for United and even named Paul Pogba as one of his idols, alongside Chelsea midfielder ’Golo Kante.

The youngster has been capped four times by his country and scored his first international goal in a 4-2 victory over Uruguay in October. It is reported the deal will cost the club around £5.5m plus add-ons and a 20% sell-on clause.

While speaking this month, Independiente del Valle’s general manager, Santiago Morales, revealed that Caicedo is expected to leave the club next month.

‘We have received an offer from a European club for Moises Caicedo, we are negotiating the proposal,’ said Morales.

‘It is most likely that he will not be in our team in 2021 due to the proposal we’ve received, it is very difficult to keep him.’
