Man Utd star Andreas Pereira set to join Lazio on loan with £24m option to buy

Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira is on the verge of moving to Lazio on loan, according to reports in Brazil.

The 24-year-old is facing increased competition for a place in the Red devils’ midfield this campaign after the arrival of Donny van de Beek from Ajax this month.

Pereira is yet to play any game this season and has not even made the bench for any of the club’s three matches so far.

According to Esporte Interativo, Pereira is now finalising his loan move to Lazio after several weeks of negotiations between the Italian side and United.

The midfielder will sign for Lazio on loan for the rest of the season, while the Seria A side will have the option to sign permanently for €27 million (£24.6m). United would also receive 10 percent of any sell-on fee Lazio receive if Pereira is sold.

Pereira, who has previously spent time on loan at Granada and Valencia, played 40 matches last campaign, scoring two goals and adding four assists.

When asked about Pereira and othe players who have found themselves on the fringes this season, Solskjaer said: ‘You know, players are happy when they win well and win games, I am too, it’s not my job to keep them happy.

‘It’s to pick players to get results, and up to them to be fit and be ready when called upon.’

Andreas Pereira signed a new deal with Manchester United 14 months ago and still has three years left on his current contract.
