Man Utd stars share view on De Gea future as club figures want goalkeeper out

Manchester United players are reportedly unaware of David de Gea’s future as clarity issue continues to plague the club.

But, the Spaniard is believed to be creeping toward the exit door after 12 years as first choice goalkeeper at Old Trafford, with little progress made on a new contract.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United dressing room is in the dark about whether De Gea will be at Carrington to greet them at the start of pre-season.

The FA Cup final could be his parting contribution, with his situation said to be not as positive as it was earlier this month.

And the report claims some figures at Old Trafford want Erik ten Hag to offload De Gea, who has kept 190 clean sheets in 545 appearances for Manchester United.

Ten Hag is said to want a new goalkeeper regardless of the 32-year-old’s future this summer as he looks to add a more competitive edge to his squad.

But with De Gea likely unwilling to settle for a reduced role, and the salary that goes with it, a departure is starting to look likely rha before.

United decided against triggering a one-year extension in De Gea’s current contract due to his huge £375,000-a-week wages.

Ten Hag’s arrival sparked major concerns over the Spaniard’s ability to suit his style of play, with comfort on the ball and a good passing range very key.
