Manchester United players are surprised by Erik ten Hag’s decision to regularly stick with Wout Weghorst, according to reports.
The Netherlands international joined from Burnley back in January, arriving as a temporary replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo. But, with just two goals to his name, he’s failed to live up to expectations.
United turned to Weghorst after previously being linked with players like Joao Felix, Alvaro Morata and Goncalo Ramos.
But while he has his uses in the team, he’s often struggled in front of goal, scoring against only Nottingham Forest and Real Betis so far.
Now, according to GiveMeSport, Ten Hag’s decision to regularly stick with the 30-year-old forward has surprised members of the club’s dressing room.
The Red Devils striker has started every game since his move, benefitting in the absence of Anthony Martial.
Martial remains sidelined through injury, with the France international missing more games than he’s played in so far this campaign.

With the 27-year-old finally returning full fitness, however, it’ll be intriguing to see what happens with Weghorst in the team.
The United star could be used as a No 10, having played there on several occasions this season – usually resulting in Bruno Fernandes being deployed out wide.
