Man Utd make sack Erik ten Hag decision & start talks with Premier League boss

Recent speculations suggest that Roberto De Zerbi, currently at the helm of Brighton, is poised to replace Erik ten Hag as the head coach of Manchester United.

This comes after co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly decided to part ways with Ten Hag.

During his inaugural season with Manchester United, Ten Hag steered the team to the FA Cup final, secured the League Cup, and achieved a top-four finish in the Premier League for the 2022–2023 season.

However, the current season has not met expectations, with the team finishing at the bottom of their Champions League group and struggling to keep pace with the Premier League’s leading quartet.

Reports from Nacional, as cited by Football 365, indicate that Ratcliffe is set to dismiss Ten Hag and might even influence Barcelona’s managerial search.

Manchester United is currently in talks with De Zerbi, as the Italian is the preferred candidate to take over Ten Hag’s role at the season’s conclusion.

Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, also holds De Zerbi in high regard, considering him the top choice to succeed Xavi at the end of the season.

Nevertheless, Manchester United is determined to thwart any move by Barcelona to acquire De Zerbi, aiming to have him succeed Ten Hag instead.

Amidst mounting pressure at Old Trafford, these recent developments hint at a limited future for Ten Hag at the club.

The 54-year-old Dutch manager, who has been linked with a potential return to Ajax, is well-regarded for his contributions to the Dutch club, including three league titles and a Champions League semifinal appearance. Ajax is reportedly open to welcoming him back.
