Pogba initially named Real Madrid’s Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior but quickly reconsidered, suggesting that Erling Haaland and Harry Kane are also strong contenders.
Haaland has been in remarkable form, netting 104 goals in 113 games since he joined Manchester City in 2022, contributing to the team’s historic treble under manager Pep Guardiola in his debut season.
On the other hand, Kane has an impressive record of 61 goals in 59 matches for Bayern Munich. Before his move from Tottenham over a year ago, he was on track to surpass Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goal record.
The 31-year-old striker has scored more than 400 goals across his club and international career, becoming England’s top goalscorer last year, overtaking Manchester United icon and Pogba’s former teammate, Wayne Rooney.

While Kane’s performance at Euro 2024 fell short of expectations, Pogba still considers him one of the world’s best players.
When asked who he rates as the best in the world, Pogba told IShowSpeed: ‘Honestly talking? I would give it to Vini. Vini’s good and he’s cold bro.’
Questioning his answer, Pogba hesitated before adding: ‘But… Haaland also deserves it man and Harry Kane has been scoring goals and goals and goals.’
Vinicius claimed the runner-up spot just behind Manchester City’s midfielder Rodri in the 2024 Ballon d’Or race, following a stellar year where he celebrated both the Champions League and La Liga titles.
At the same Ballon d’Or ceremony, Barcelona’s young star Lamine Yamal from Spain received the Kopa Trophy, awarded to the best player under 21.
Pogba agrees that Yamal, 17, is the ‘best young player in the world’, adding on the stream: ‘He is cold.
‘Right now he’s killing it, at the Euros he had games and he was killing it. He’s so young and he won it. He’s the best young player in the world.
‘Give him a few more months and can you imagine if he won the Champions League this year? He’s cold bro. He’s 17, he still has homework!’
After being named the best men’s player in the world, Rodri said: ‘A very special day for me, my family and my country.
‘Today is not a victory for me, it is for Spanish football, for so many players who have not won it and have deserved it, like [Andres] Iniesta, Xavi [Hernandez], Iker [Casillas], Sergio Busquets, so many others.
‘It is for Spanish football and for the figure of the midfielder.’
Kane also attended the ceremony to receive the Gerd Muller Trophy, which he shared with Kylian Mbappe for scoring the highest number of goals throughout the year.
‘Thank you to my club Bayern Munich, all my staff, team-mates, for helping me score all the goals I scored’, said the England captain.
‘It’s an honour to take this award from a club legend [Karl-Heinz Rummenigge] – thank you very much.’
