Pogba urges Ousmane Dembele to join Man Utd

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has privately urged Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele to move to Old Trafford, according to reports.

With Dortmund standing firm over their £109.6m asking price for Jadon Sancho, United are now looking at other options to strengthen the right side of the club’s attack.

Dembele is on the Red devils’ shortlist and the club are keen on signing the Frenchman loan with an option to sign permanently.

But, reports have claimed that Dembele wants to remain at Barcelona having struggled to make an impact since he moved to the club from Borussia Dortmund in a £135.5m deal in 2017.

However, Mundo Deportivo claims that Pogba has personally called Dembele in order to persuade him to make the move to Old Trafford.

The report claims that Pogba supports Manchester United’s push to sign Dembele and believes he could become an important part of Solskjaer’s side.

It is also reported that Pogba told Dembele that he would be able to secure more playing time at the club, which would help his prospects of securing a place in France’s squad for the Euro Cup next summer.

Dembele has had to deal with several injuries since moving to Barcelona and faces a huge task to secure a regular role in the team after Ansu Fati’s impressive displays.

The France international was also left on the bench as Barcelona beat Celta Vigo on Thursday.

‘I think Pedri and Trincao can contribute more defensively than Dembele can, that’s why they played,’ Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman said after the match.
