Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic ruled out for five weeks due to injury

Chelsea will not be able to call upon American winger, Christian Pulisic until the start of next campaign with the player ruled out of football action for up to five weeks with injury.

Pulisic, who scored Chelsea’s only goal during Saturday’s FA Cup final defeat against Arsenal, had to be substituted during the Wembley showpiece after pulling up a hamstring issue.

Frank Lampard confirmed after the game that Pulisic – along with Cesar Azpilicueta, who also suffered a hamstring injury during the match – would not be available against Bayern Munich in the Champions League this week.

According to talkSPORT, The former Borussia Dortmund star will be absent for around four to five weeks, which means he may not return to full training until the week the new Premier League season begins on September 12.

Along with Pulisic and Azpilicueta, Chelsea winger Pedro also suffered an injury to his shoulder as Arsenal downed Frank Lampard’s side 2-1 to win their 14th FA Cup.

The Spanish player has since undergone surgery on his shoulder which means he has played his last match for Chelsea, with a free transfer to Seria A side Roma going through this summer.

Pedro confirmed the successful operation on social media, posting a picture alongside a message on Instagram.

“The surgery went well, I will be back soon,” wrote Pedro. “It was a pity not to win the FA Cup. Thank you for all your support.”

Pedro has spent five years at the Stamford Bridge, having signed for Chelsea from Barcelona in 2015. He helped the club win the 2017 Premier League title, the 2018 FA Cup and also the 2019 Europa League.
