Real Madrid delay Conte move after he demanded two signings

Antonio Conte’s move to Real Madrid has stalled after the former Chelsea boss asked the club’s hierarchy to make two transfers during negotiations, according to reports.

Madrid have already confirmed the sacking of Julen Lopetegui and have announced that Santiago Solari, the club’s Castilla coach since 2016, has replaced him as manager.

Conte is available after he was sacked by Chelsea and has been in talks with the current Champions League holders.

But according to Marca, the 49-year-old’s transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu has hit a standstill due to his demands during negotiations.

The report claims that the Italian has already asked Madrid to sign a new centre back and a striker capable of leading the line on his own to suit his favoured three-man defensive system.

Conte has used a similar formation in both Italy and during his time at Chelsea and has won league titles in Serie A and the Premier League.

But throughout his time at Chelsea, Conte clashed several times with Chelsea’s hierarchy over their transfer activity and several of the players he wanted were not signed for him.

Conte’s arrival at Madrid is now complicated but the possibility of the Italian ending at Madrid is not completely ruled out at this stage.
