The Brazilian midfielder is among the players United is open to selling, primarily to remove his hefty wages from their books.
Saudi Arabia has often been mentioned as a potential destination for the ex-Real Madrid star, with several clubs showing interest, notably Al-Nassr.
A transfer would see him team up with Ronaldo once more, and it seems the Portuguese legend is keen to facilitate this move.
Reports suggest Ronaldo has personally requested Al-Nassr’s management to secure Casemiro’s signature. Amorim has already sanctioned a sale, as many of the underperforming United squad members are available for the right price.
Casemiro, who has made 105 appearances since joining United, has 18 months left on his lucrative contract. His performances this season have faced criticism, especially regarding his speed, an issue Amorim has empathized with.
Speaking after the defeat to Newcastle, he said: “I can understand the criticism and I understand if you compare the pace of the midfielders from Newcastle and our pace I understand that.
“We try to cope and try to put our players in a position that can hide a little bit that difference of pace. But I understand that after the game it’s really easy to evaluate the players.
“I think all the criticism around my team I think is fair and I can live with that. When it’s fair I can live with that and I can understand.”
Even if Al-Nassr succeeds in signing Casemiro, his reunion with Ronaldo might be short-lived. Casemiro only has six months remaining on his contract in Saudi Arabia and is exploring his options, with a potential move to Major League Soccer (MLS) under consideration, according to Marca.
Despite the ongoing speculation about his future, Ronaldo has consistently praised the Saudi Pro League, asserting that it surpasses Ligue 1 in quality.
He said: “The Saudi Pro League is better than Ligue 1, of course.
“I’m not saying that because I play here. I don’t care what people think about it. Players should come here and they will see quickly. Just try to do sprints at 38, 39, 40 degrees…
“Come and you will see. If you don’t believe me, come. In France, they only have PSG, everyone else is finished. Nobody can beat them because they have the most money and the best players.”
