Solskjaer disagrees with Maguire foul claim after Man Utd’s 1-1 draw with West Brom

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he had no arguments over West Brom’s goal against Manchester United but has called on referees in the Premier League to show more consistency.

United skipper Harry Maguire was unhappy as Mbaye Diagne out-muscled his partner in defense, Victor Lindelof for West Brom’s early goal at The Hawthorns.

Bruno Fernandes scored an outstanding equaliser before half time but the Red devils were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw and have lost even further ground to Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

‘I know Vic will be disappointed in there and I’m sure he’s probably getting criticism, he knows he can do better, but it’s a foul, we shouldn’t be speaking about this,’ Maguire told MUTV about Diagne’s goal.

‘It’s a big striker who’s bigger than Vic and he’s wrestling him, he’s got his arms all on him. I had one disallowed at Burnley two or three weeks ago and the difference is massive. You can’t tell me I did more than a striker’s done there, so the inconsistency is something that we need to look at.

‘It’s a bit frustrating. It’s a foul and I’m not making up excuses because it’s disappointing and Vic’s disappointed at half time but he’s reacted really well in the game to make up for what he’ll feel is a mistake.’

However, Solskjaer disagreed with Maguire’s assessment. ‘As a striker you’d like to get them, of course,’ the United boss told BBC Sport when asked about West Brom’s opening goal.

‘I think the boy does well to climb over Victor. ‘But then again a month or two ago our Harry was told his goal against Burnley [at Turf Moor] was a foul.

‘So where’s the consistency? I’m just asking for clarity and the same decisions every week. ‘I think all the managers are, we just see flip-flop around many decisions, big decisions.’
