Solskjaer tells Ashley Young he is vital to United squad

Manchester United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly told Ashley Young he is ‘vital’ to his squad.

Young was thought to be one of the Manchester United veterans that will face the axe this summer window, as Solskjaer targets a massive overhaul.

The Englishman signed a contract extension last February that will keep him at Old Trafford until next year.

And the Daily Star claim Solskjaer has surprisingly told Young his experience is very crucial to the squad.

Young has played majorly at right-back under Ole Solskjaer, but the red devils were looking for a player that will replace the 33-year-old this summer.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was United’s number one choice to replace Young, but have been put off by Crystal Palace demanding £50million for the 21-year-old.

While United’s search for a new right-back continues, Ashley Young will remain at the club for the foreseeable future after his talks with Solskjaer.

United will continue with plans to rebuild the team, but have been left frustrated by the asking prices set for their top targets.

Solskjaer wants to build his team around young British talent, but may be forced to adjust his expectations after United cooled their interest in Jadon Sancho, Harry Maguire and Wan-Bissaka.
