Despite this, the former United star, who achieved legendary status during his nine-year playing career at the club, still views Manchester United as “family” and would eagerly embrace any opportunity to come back.
‘If your family needs you, then of course they will help,’ Solskjaer told Norwegian outlet NKR.
‘I would say “yes” any day of the week. It feels wrong to sit and talk about jobs that other people have. But of course, yes. I would have said yes.’
The former striker has been connected to several potential roles this year, including positions at Leicester City, Besiktas, and as head coach for the Republic of Ireland.
Norway’s current manager, Stale Solbakken, is expected to step down after his contract concludes following the 2026 World Cup.
Solbakken, along with Norwegian stars Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard, faced harsh criticism after a goalless draw against Kazakhstan during September’s international break.

‘I am a proud Norwegian. If the question comes up, when Stale finds out that he doesn’t want it anymore, I’m happy to enter into a conversation,’ he said.
‘I am very proud of where I come from.’

‘It just has to be the right job and I depend on working with the right people.’
He added: ‘In the last three years, I have learned a lot about myself. I have traveled around with UEFA and attended a number of lectures and courses. I still want to get what I can out of a job, in a club or on a national team.’
