The details of Mauricio Pochettino’s departure from Stamford Bridge after just one season have now emerged.
The club announced on Tuesday night that they would be parting ways with Pochettino following their sixth-place finish in the Premier League.

The Argentine released the following statement to Chelsea fans after the news of his departure: “Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club’s history,” he said.
The Club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come,” the 52-year-old added.
The news has surprised many, given Chelsea’s strong finish to the season and the emergence of Cole Palmer as one of the league’s standout players under Pochettino.
A report from The Telegraph provides more insight into the decision, indicating there were no disputes over transfer authority or player sales.
Instead, the issues were described as more “philosophical and related to the dynamics of working within a club structure.”
The report added: “Nobody wanted to make a rash decision that could later be regretted so all parties agreed to sleep on day one of the meeting and reconvene on Tuesday morning.”
With no changes on either side, Pochettino and the club concluded that it would be better for him to leave Stamford Bridge now, rather than risk a more contentious exit next season, which could make it harder for the club to find a replacement.
Pochettino seemed to be well-liked in the Chelsea dressing room, with Noni Madueke being the first to pay tribute to him on Instagram.
Roberto De Zerbi, who announced his departure from Brighton, is currently the favorite to take over.
