However, according to AS, they are confident that the top prize will go to Vinicius.

“It was just a matter of time. Vinicius is Vinicius. A footballer who fights, battles, and fights again, regardless of how he performed the last time.

“He tears through defenses with blinding speed and needs very little to score. A global star who, in eight days, will receive his first Ballon d’Or,” the Madrid daily wrote this weekend.

Recently, Marca, another prominent Madrid newspaper, revealed that Nike is already preparing to celebrate the likely crowning of Vinicius, who netted 24 goals and provided 11 assists in 39 matches across all competitions last season.

The Nike store in Madrid is expected to be redesigned in tribute to the Real Madrid star.

While Vinicius has plenty to boast about, particularly Real Madrid’s double title win last season, Brazil’s disappointing performance in the Copa America somewhat diminishes his shine.

Additionally, those two Real Madrid titles were collective achievements, with notable contributions from Jude Bellingham and Dani Carvajal, the latter having accomplished the rare feat of winning both the Champions League with Real Madrid and the Euro with Spain.
