Thomas Tuchel has acknowledged feeling a greater sense of appreciation during his time at Chelsea compared to his current club, Bayern Munich.
The dismissal of Tuchel by the Blues unfolded in controversial circumstances, orchestrated by Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, leading to his replacement with Graham Potter in September 2022.
- Pochettino’s treatment of one key player is ‘frustrating’ figures at Chelsea
- Virgil van Dijk names his toughest ever opponent
- Cristiano Ronaldo has ‘warned’ Benzema about working with Ten Hag at Man Utd
The decision faced strong opposition from Chelsea fans, who continued chanting Tuchel’s name four months after his dismissal.
Despite a relatively short 19-month tenure as Chelsea’s head coach, Tuchel led the team to victory in the Champions League, Club World Cup, and Super Cup.
Additionally, he guided Chelsea to two FA Cup finals and secured a runner-up finish in the Carabao Cup.
Despite achieving a record of 60 wins, 24 draws, and 16 defeats with a 60 percent win percentage, Thomas Tuchel had a strained relationship with the Chelsea hierarchy, who assumed control from Roman Abramovich in May 2022.
Co-owner Boehly reportedly labeled the 50-year-old as a ‘nightmare’ to deal with regarding recruitment.
Tuchel, who joined Bayern in March of the previous year, ultimately felt more appreciated at Chelsea than at the German club, as revealed in a recent ESPN interview.
Asked if he felt more appreciated in England than Germany, Tuchel said: ‘Yep. Pretty simple question. I feel we are very critical with each other in Germany, especially with players and coaches.
‘It is very hard to escape. There is a picture and this picture is basically the picture for years and years. I felt more appreciation in England, yes.’
