On Thursday, Egypt is set to face Ghana in their second group-stage encounter at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
This match holds significant importance for both teams, given that they were unable to secure victories in their opening games. Mohamed Salah and his teammates were held to a draw by Mozambique, while Ghana suffered a defeat against Cape Verde in their initial Group B matches.
Despite winning four out of five games leading up to the tournament, Egypt found themselves on the brink of an unexpected loss against Mozambique at the hour-mark.
However, Salah’s penalty salvaged a 2-2 draw for them. Participating in their 26th AFCON finals, Egypt is aiming for an unprecedented eighth trophy, a feat unmatched by any other team.
