Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has assured the club he is ready to move on from an ugly public falling out with Eric Abidal, according to recent reports.
Messi hit out at Abidal after the Barca sporting director suggested player power played a key role in the sacking of Ernesto Valverde.
Messi wrote on his Instagram for Eric Abidal to reveal the players or else he was ‘dirtying everyone’s name’.
According to ESPN, Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu flew back to Spain to hold talks with Abidal and CEO Oscar Grau.
Bartomeu has spoken to the Argentine forward on the phone on three separate occasions since his comments on Instagram.
Messi assured the Barcelona chief he was prepared to move on from what happened and focus on achieving the club’s targets for the remainder of the campaign.
In their own meeting which lasted two hours, Bartomeu, Abidal and Grau agreed it would be good for the club to close the door on the issue.
Despite reports in Spain claiming Abidal will be sacked, the former Barcelona defender will actually stay in his post.
Valverde was replaced by Quique Setien last month, but supporters have bemoaned a lack of transfer activity in January.
Barcelona are three points behind Real Madrid in the race for the League title and take on Napoli in the Champions League.
