Mohamed Salah told Jurgen Klopp that he was not concerned about his injury after Liverpool’s 3-0 Champions League win over Manchester City.
The Egypt international scored his 38th goal of the season to help Liverpool to a 3-0 win at Anfield but was subbed off in the second-half.
The forward was seen holding his groin before being checked by the medical team and went straight down the tunnel. Though the 25-year-old later returned to sit with his teammates.
Liverpool face Everton on Saturday, before going to the Etihad for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
Asked whether Salah suffered a groin injury, Klopp told BT Sport: ‘I hope not… he said to me immediately after the game: “all fine, all good”.
‘I hope that’s the case, we need to wait and hope.’
On his team’s performance, Klopp said: ‘The result was not expected but we need to play more football in the second leg.
‘It’s only half-time, good but nothing else. The first-half was brilliant, that’s how football should look. We knew of the qualities of City but knew our own qualities as well.’
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard was also impressed by his former side, saying: ‘The word to use is perfect. There were two sides to Liverpool tonight.
‘In the first-half they were on the front foot, counter-attacking and scoring quality goals. And in the second-half they had to suffer.
‘The back four were stunning, the keeper is getting better and better. Jurgen Klopp’s tactics were absolutely spot on.’
