John Terry predicts which team will win the Premier League this season

Former Chelsea and England skipper John Terry has tipped Manchester City to win the Premier League title this campaign and says Guardiola’s side are ‘by far the best team’ when they’re firing on all cylinders.

Man City sit above United on goal difference at the top of the table and have two outstanding matches over their bitter rivals ahead of their game against Burnley this evening.

City had a poor start to the campaign but have been in scintillating form of late, winning their last 12 games in all competitions. The last time they suffered defeat was in November when Tottenham beat them 2-0.

Terry, who is Dean Smith’s assistant at Aston Villa, was in the away dugout last month as Bernardo Silva and Gundogan inspired the Citizens to victory with late goals at the Etihad.

Asked which club he thinks will win the Premier League title this season, Terry told talkSPORT: ‘I’ve said Man City from the start.

‘We [Aston Villa] played against them recently, and they are the kind of team that, no matter how you play, if they are on it, they can beat anyone in the league.

‘I think they are the best team, they have the best individuals, and when they are at it they are by far the best team.

‘They are showing that with their recent run that they are a threat. ‘When you play against them the movement is incredible and you really don’t know what to do.

‘It’s one of those games where you come off and can only learn from it really, how well they move and the options they give each other on the pitch. ‘They make it so difficult for the opposition team so they are the ones for me.’

On City’s 12-match winning streak and the prospect of facing Aston Villa, Guardiola said: ‘Some games we are more comfortable, other games we fought until the last minute – there cannot be another way.

‘If you ask me what is going to happen in the future, my future is Burnley. ‘Before we play against them, especially away, I never think it will be easy and the players know it. It is a special team, they play together with the same manager in Sean Dyche for a long time and they know exactly what they have to do. What they do, they do really well.

‘In football and sport, what you have done in the past is nothing. When you are beaten or lose against them, it is the past. Every time is a new chance and challenge to do a good game, control the aspects and try to beat them.

‘I don’t pay any attention to what happened in the past, it is about how the players are right now today and especially tomorrow.

‘We see them in the last games when they won at Anfield, and took a good result against Aston Villa at home. What happened in the past is in the past.’
