Chelsea are losing hope of signing Erling Haaland this summer and have now turned their attention to trying to prise Robert Lewandowski away from Bayern, according to reports.
The Blues are eager to sign a prolific number nine, with Timo Werner having struggled in front of goal, and had made Haaland their major target.
But Dortmund are playing hardball over a fee and it would take a crazy offer of £175m to land the player, and even then the club are adamant he is not for sale.
This has made the London side to return to the drawing board and, according to The Sun, they have now revived their interest in Lewandowski.
The Polish forward enjoyed a superb campaign last season, breaking Gerd Muller’s long-standing record by netting 41 goals.
Despite turning 33 next month, Tuchel now regards the experienced striker as ‘his best option’ in a difficult transfer market and could be the ideal signing to finish the hoard of chances his side created last season.
But Lewandowski is currently contracted to Bayern Munich until 2023 and they are reluctant to let him leave, with a bid of £50m required to land him.

The former Dortmund player is believed to be keen to test himself in England and would relish a move to Stamford Bridge, while Bayern are described as ‘not unsympathetic’ to his desire for a new team.
Chelsea would need to make Lewandowski their highest-paid player, but he could provide exactly the kind of firepower they have been lacking – in the short-term at least.
An offer of £50m could be enough for his signature, with Bayern conscious of his advancing years, and the money could be put towards their move for Haaland next summer when his £68m release clause becomes active.
