Diogo Dalot recently overlooked his Manchester United colleague Andre Onana while discussing who he believes is poised to be the top goalkeeper globally.
Manchester United invested £47.2 million to secure Onana’s transfer from Inter Milan to Old Trafford this season, where he took over as the primary goalkeeper from David de Gea.

Throughout the season, Onana has been the subject of critique, with United icons Roy Keane and Gary Neville expressing their concerns about the Cameroonian’s performance in January.
In December, Onana acknowledged his dissatisfaction with his performance level at United, yet he dismissed any skepticism regarding his skills.
Since then, Onana’s form has seen a positive trend – a sentiment he shares – but it seems he still has to fully win over some of his teammates.
Dalot, who is with the Portugal national team, recently chose not to endorse Onana, instead predicting that FC Porto’s Diogo Costa is on the brink of becoming the preeminent goalkeeper in the world.
Adding to the intrigue, Costa was rumored to be a potential signing for United last summer, prior to Onana’s arrival..
‘I think [Costa] is already more than ready for this leap [to a top European club], which will happen when he decides, whenever,’ Dalot told Sport TV in Portugal.
‘I’ve had the opportunity to tell him several times that he has that ability and for me he will be the best goalkeeper in the world soon.
‘He’s already one of the best and that’s why I believe he has that potential, that future. In addition to being a great friend, he is a great goalkeeper and I look forward to seeing what he will do in the future.’
