Mourinho reveals when he knew Liverpool would win the Premier League title

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho concedes he knew Liverpool would win the Premier League title after they beat Manchester City in November.

Pep Guardiola’s team lost even more ground in the title race on Sunday evening as they sunk to a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

The result means Liverpool are now 22 points ahead at the very top of the Premier League table.

Liverpool have been the standout side throughout the campaign and Mourinho concedes their 3-1 win over the reigning Premier League champions at Anfield in November was a clear sign that the title would be changing hands.

‘I had the feeling early in November when I was with you, I had that feeling,’ Jose Mourinho said after Spurs’ win over City on Sunday.

‘I know how difficult it is to win a third league in a row. It’s hard, it’s difficult.

‘But they [Man City] are still a fantastic team. Fantastic team, fantastic players, fantastic manager.

‘So for us to beat them is very good and the way the table is, you lose two matches you almost go to relegation, you win two matches you get up, and it was so important for us. So, so important.’

Spurs’ victory over Man City keeps them fifth in the Premier League and they are now four points behind Chelsea, who drew 2-2 with Leicester City on Saturday.
