Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred has confirmed interest from the Premier League and says it’s his dream to play for a ‘major’
The 25-year-old was close to joining Manchester City in the winter transfer window but Pep Guardiola has since dropped his interest in him.
Manchester United held talks with Fred’s representatives this month and reports claim that they even offered the Brazilian a contract.
Fred has a £53million release clause in his contract but United are reluctant to pay that much and will attempt to talk the fee down.
The midfielder admits there’s interest in him from France and England and he says it would be a dream to play for a ‘major’ club in Europe.
‘I’m very happy at Shakhtar,” Fred told SporTV. “I’ve been working well here but it has been five years.
‘I made it clear to the club that I was very happy here but I want to make a bigger leap in my career.
‘There are other clubs interested in England and France. I want to make a bigger leap, I made it clear to the club.
‘Now I just have to wait to get through the World Cup and see which is the best destination.
‘I think I have to change a little. I have dreams of playing in major clubs in Europe. I made it clear that it’s my moment.
