Arsenal have confirmed that midfielder Lucas Torreira has fractured his right ankle with no date set yet for his return back to the team.
Torreira sustained the injury in Monday’s 2-0 FA Cup victory at Portsmouth, coming off on a stretcher after a challenge from James Bolton 12 minutes into the game.
Arsenal have said he will get “further specialist reviews” to determine his exact recovery schedule as they offered new update on their injured players ahead of Saturday’s home game against West Ham.
It was also confirmed that left-back Kieran Tierney, who moved to Arsenak from Celtic in the summer, has returned to training after recovering from a dislocated shoulder.
Cedric Soares could make his first appearance for the club this month after his loan switch from Southampton.
Meanwhile, Sead Kolasinac, who is recovering from a “significant strain” to his right shoulder, is set to resume training fully by the end of this month.
However, Calum Chambers has undergone successful surgery after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee against Chelsea on. He is expected to be out for around nine months.
No timescale has been put on Torreira’s recovery, but manager Mikel Arteta will not be able to call upon the South American midfielder any time soon.
In the latest fitness update on the club’s official website, Arsenal said of Torreira: “Sustained fracture to right ankle during Portsmouth (a) on Monday.
“Awaiting further specialist reviews which will determine recovery plan.”
