The Brazilian midfielder joined Manchester United in a £60m deal last summer, ending his nine-year stint at the Bernabeu.
He has been a revelation at Old Trafford and has dismissed any concerns that his move to the club was an easy pay-day after almost a decade in Madrid.
Erik ten Hag’s appointment has been a blessing for a number of United stars but nobody has benefited more than Marcus Rashford.
The England star was United’s matchwinner against Wolves on New Year’s Day, scoring in the second half after coming on at half-time.
Rashford was dropped from the startimg lineup for poor timekeeping but he gave the Dutchman the perfect response by ensuring United finish the year in a perfect way.
And Casemiro conceded afterwards that he was shocked to discover the full quality of Rashford following his arrival at the club.
‘I’m going to be very honest with you, I was really surprised by the player that Rashford is,’ said Casemiro.
‘In my opinion, especially knowing the player off the pitch, if he does well he can be one of the five best players in the world.’
United’s win came before dropped points from rivals Newcastle United and Manchester City, helping Ten Hag’s team into the top four.
