Manchester United are sweating over the fitness of Marouane Fellaini after the midfielder limped out of training ahead of Saturday’s clash with Chelsea.
The Belgium international, has once again emerged as a important player for Jose Mourinho, starting four of their last five Premier League matches and coming on at half-time in the victory over Newcastle.
However, The Sun report that he pulled out at the end of training on Wednesday and is now a doubt to face Chelsea.
The Red Devils travel to Stamford Bridge for the early kick off, with Mourinho still in desperate need of a good result despite the dramatic come-back win against Newcastle.
Fellaini had reported back from international duty feeling ill, but insisted on taking part in the train session to get ready for the Chelsea game.
But his afternoon ended abruptly as he was forced to hobble off the pitch with an ankle injury, and he could be seen shaking his head in fright – though he did at manage to get back in the changing room on his own.
Fellaini’s injury will be a huge blow to Mourinho, who has come to rely on the 30-year-old as one of his most trusted players.
It was Mourinho who pushed for Fellaini to be handed a new deal, with the Belgian’s previous contract having expired in the summer.

If Fellaini misses out, Mourinho could stick with the same midfield trio of Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba that started their game against Newcastle, while Ander Herrera is also available.
