Rio Ferdinand jokingly teased Douglas Luiz following his equalizer against Manchester United, which was described as ‘completely wild’.
The Aston Villa player nullified Rasmus Hojlund’s earlier goal by being the quickest to react to the chaotic ball movement in the United penalty area, redirecting Leon Bailey’s cross into the net at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.

Luiz then performed a peculiar celebration, shaking his chest in front of Andre Onana and Raphael Varane, a move dubbed ‘the shimmy’.
While Manchester United fans were left baffled, supporters of rival teams absolutely adored it.
One took to social media site X to say: “Celebration for the ages from Douglas Luiz. Totally unhinged Barclay’s behaviour.”
Another wrote: “Loving that celeb from Douglas Luiz.”
And a third said: “Douglas Luiz with some magnificent s***housing of Raphael Varane. Neal Maupay eat your heart out.”
However, after Manchester United clinched the victory with a goal from Scott McTominay, club legend Ferdinand playfully reached out to Luiz on social media, using his X handle and adding laughing emojis, asking, “U ok.”

Earlier in the game, Hojlund continued his impressive goal-scoring streak by capitalizing on Harry Maguire’s header from a corner, scoring in his fifth consecutive Premier League match.
This achievement made him the second-youngest player to achieve such a feat at 21 years and seven days, just behind Nicolas Anelka.
Despite Villa’s strong performance, they fully deserved their equalizer when Luiz found the net.
However, despite the extravagant celebration from the ex-Manchester City player, it was short-lived.
This was due to McTominay’s late heroics, as he scored a decisive header past Emi Martinez, securing his seventh goal of the Premier League season and granting Manchester United all three points at Villa Park.
This victory narrowed the gap between United and Unai Emery’s team to five points in the race for the top four.
Moreover, it was a significant result for Erik ten Hag, alleviating the early-season pressure on Manchester United when they were facing struggles.
