Furious Man Utd star apologises to Solskjaer for ‘disrespectful’ behaviour

Solskjaer

Eric Bailly has reportedly apologised to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his Manchester United team-mates for his disrespectful behaviour after being left out against AC Milan last week.

The Manchester United defender has been left angry and frustrated by the lack of first-team chances under Solskjaer – with his future at Old Trafford still uncertain.

Sources close to the player said he feels he has been shown ‘disrespect’ by the Red devils and he was incensed at being dropped for the second leg Europa League clash against Milan.

Bailly started the first leg but didn’t feature at all in the second-leg and, according to the Transfer Window Podcast, he reacted in a furious manner when he found out he wasn’t playing.

But, he accepted he hadn’t handled the situation well and apologised to both Solskjaer and the players for his behaviour.

However, he is still unhappy with his situation and he is concerned about signing a new deal. Bailly’ current contract expires at the end of next campaign and he sought assurances from Solskjaer that he would be guaranteed playing time.

Despite Manchester United officials being keen to keep the central defender, Solskjaer was unable to offer such assurances and Bailly now has doubts over extending his stay at the club.

The former Villarreal star believes he would displace either Victor Lindelof or Harry Maguire in the starting lineup if he was given a fair opportunity in the team.

But he is not convinced Solskjaer will give him what he wants. While a payrise is on the table, the player wants to be playing first-team football on a regular basis at the highest level.

Even if he wanted to leave the club, the circumstances may not allow it. United want £20m if they’re forced to sell him and his wages may be tough to match for other teams given the impact of the pandemic.

This could force him to stay but Solskjaer also wants to sign another centre-back, which could even leave him relegated to fourth-choice.
