Thierry Henry names Man Utd star as the best striker in the Champions League

Thierry Henry believes Cristiano Ronaldo is the best in the Champions League, and believes the Portugal international has to be given credit for what he has done in his outstanding career so far.

The Manchester United star has won an array of individual and team awards, which inlcudes five Champions leagues and five Ballon d’Ors across spells at United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.

Despite the Red devils’ poor run of form in recent weeks, Ronaldo has scored three goals in three Premier League matches since his return to Old Trafford in the summer.

Henry, who is Arsenal’s all-time goal-scorer, believes Ronaldo’s record already speaks for itself after picking him as the best striker in the competition.

‘You have to give this guy a lot of credit, why? Because simply what he has done with the national team, what he’s doing right now for United,’ he told CBS Sports.

‘What he has been doing for Juve, Real Madrid and United before, it is second to none if we’re talking about a No.9, you have to give him his respect.’

The French Legend named Karim Benzema as the second best striker in the UEFA Champions league, with Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski in third.

‘I think he [Benzema] is the most complete striker in the world, he can do everything at ease and has answered the call since Ronaldo left, he won the Champions League so many times and I think that’s good enough for number two,’ he added.

‘I think he’s [Lewandowksi] been doing it for a very long time, one of the best predators I have seen in the game but he won one Champions League. The guys that are ahead of him have won it multiple times.’
