Rasmus Hojlund snubs Rooney when naming his dream Man Utd five-a-side team

Rasmus Hojlund excluded Wayne Rooney, a club legend, when selecting his ideal Manchester United five-a-side team.

Hojlund extended his goal-scoring streak with a decisive strike in Man United’s 3-0 victory against West Ham United, marking his fourth Premier League goal this season.

Following his impressive performance at Old Trafford, Hojlund joined Mark Goldbridge for a discussion, covering various topics such as the existence of a release clause in his contract and choosing his dream five-a-side team.

Despite the restriction on selecting current Man United players, Hojlund chose his compatriot Peter Schmeichel as the goalkeeper for his ultimate five-a-side team.

Schmeichel played a crucial role in the club’s renowned treble-winning campaign in 1999.

On The United Stand, he explained: “I need to put Peter in goal. Peter is Danish. Peter won everything here. Peter is a legend here but is also a legend in Denmark because he won the Euros for us.”

The 21-year-old named Ferdinand over Nemanja Vidic in defence, adding: “I need to put Rio in there because he’s very memorable to me.

“I would love to put Vidic in there, but I can only have one defender,” he added.

The forward completed his dream five-a-side team with Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I want to put Ryan Giggs in there, Paul Scholes and then Cristiano Ronaldo up front,” he concluded.

Goldbridge shared his ideal five-a-side team, aligning with three of Hojlund’s choices.

He supported the selections of Schmeichel, Scholes, and Ronaldo, but diverged by picking Roy Keane and Rooney.

With 10 goals in all competitions this season, Hojlund aims to extend his scoring streak to five consecutive games when Manchester United faces fourth-placed Aston Villa in their upcoming league match on Sunday.
