Chelsea have reportedly shelved their plan to sign Jadon Sancho in the January window as Frank Lampard wants the club to prioritise signing a new striker.
The England international is one of the most in-demand young players following his outstanding performances for Borussia Dortmund and has attracted interest from several teams across Europe.
Last month, reports claimed that the blues were close to finalising a £120 million deal with Dortmund for the 19-year-old winger.
But according to The Sun, Chelsea have cooled their interest in completing a deal for Jadon Sancho this month and are prepared to wait until the summer window to make their transfer move.
The report claims that Frank Lampard believes his team are currently well stocked in wide areas and has urged the club to focus on signing a new striker to ease the pressure on Chelsea’s top scorer Tammy Abraham.
Lampard has repeatedly voiced his concerns about Chelsea’s inability to finish chances during games and his side are in danger of slipping out of the top four having won just three of their last nine Premier League matches.
Abraham has scored 12 Premier League goals this campaign, while Olivier Giroud wants to leave the club and Michy Batshuayi has attracted interest from Aston Villa after Wesley’s injury.
RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner and Lyon striker Moussa Dembele are the two names on Chelsea’s shortlist.
Although Lyon have already said that they are not ready to sell Dembele this month.
Chelsea have reportedly submitted a £34m bid for the 23-year-old forward, who has scored 10 goals in the French Ligue 1 this season.
