Maguire & Rangnick issue update after Victor Lindelof scare

Ralf Rangnick and Harry Maguire have revealed that Victor Lindelof is ‘fine’ after he was forced off with breathing problems during Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Norwich City on Saturday.

Lindelof was seen holding his chest before he was eventually replaced by Eric Bailly with 16 minutes left at Carrow Road.

Rangnick said after the match that Lindelof has already undergone tests with the club’s medical staff and ‘seems to be okay’.

‘He had a collision, he can’t even remember what it was. He was struggling to breathe,’ Rangnick told Sky Sports. ‘They did all the tests, he seems to be okay.’

United skipper Maguire said: ‘He’s in the changing room, he felt a bit of discomfort. ‘I don’t really know too much detail, you’ll probably find out a little bit more in the next few days.

‘He seems fine in there. He just felt a little bit of discomfort, obviously we all wish him well.’

Meanwhile, United goalkeeper David De Gea says he was concerned for Lindelof’s wellbeing after seeing Christian Eriksen and Sergio Aguero both suffer heart issues during matches this year.

‘I don’t know what was going on but it was his breathing,’ said De Gea.

‘We’ve seen already Eriksen and Aguero, it’s a bit difficult to see your player acting like this so it was better to change. Hopefully he’s completely fine.

‘As soon as we saw difficult breathing and feeling something strange the game doesn’t matter, first of all it’s his life that needs to be safe.’
