Manchester United have submitted an opening £12million bid for Porto full-back Alex Telles.
The 27-year-old is valued at £18m by the Portuguese side but he has less than one year left on his contract and United hope to sign him for less than Porto’s asking price.
Telles is reported to have already agreed personal terms with the Red devils over a four-year deal at Old Trafford, where he’d earn a salary of around £70,000-per-week.
After talks with the Brazilian’s representatives last week, the Guardian claim that United have now firmed up their interest in the defender by making a £12m bid.
Though Porto had hoped for more, the club are minded to accept the offer as they’re keen to recoup some of their losses due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Manchester United have made only one signing so far this summer window with the £40m acquisition of Donny van de Beek from Ajax.
Solskjaer had earmarked making as many as four signings this summer but that looks unlikely to happen, with the club now working on a deal for Telles and a right winger heading into the last week of the transfer window.

Should Telles join United, he will provide competition for Luke Shaw at left-back and allow Brandon Williams to move to his favoured right-back position to challenge Aaron Wan-Bissaka for a place in the first-team.
