Manchester United leaders are said to have differing opinions on Mason Greenwood’s future, with some suggesting the possibility of his return to Old Trafford after being loaned out.
However, Real Madrid, the La Liga powerhouse, firmly believes that a comeback to England is improbable, presenting a potential advantage for them in the upcoming summer.

Greenwood endured over a year away from the limelight amidst off-field allegations.
Although the case against him was dismissed earlier this year, United has opted against reintegrating him into the first team, citing concerns about potential complications.
Greenwood embarked on a season-long loan to Getafe in the summer, swiftly regaining a productive rhythm with five goals and four assists across various competitions this campaign.
Uncertainty looms over how United will address the situation after the season concludes. Per TEAMtalk, certain senior figures at Old Trafford are hesitant to make Greenwood’s departure permanent.
However, concerns exist about potential repercussions on fanbase sentiments and the women’s team if the club were to reconsider their stance.
Real Madrid and local rivals Atletico Madrid are purportedly closely monitoring developments, aiming to take advantage in the summer transfer window.
While Getafe is reportedly interested in securing Greenwood on a permanent basis, only the wealthiest European clubs could match his substantial earnings with the Red Devils.
As the 22-year-old approaches the last 18 months of his contract, the prospect of a discounted transfer deal in 2024 becomes plausible.
Having emerged from United’s academy in his teenage years, Greenwood accumulated 35 goals in 129 senior appearances.
If Getafe finds themselves unable to afford the young talent, there is still a silver lining. Reports suggest that a sell-on clause was arranged with United, entitling the Spanish side to 20 percent of the transfer fee should Greenwood make a permanent move next year.
The Red Devils set out their stall back in August by releasing a statement which read: “Mason publicly acknowledges today, he has made mistakes which he is taking responsibility for.
“All those involved, including Mason, recognise the difficulties with him recommencing his career at Manchester United. It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.”
