Manchester City make history as they break three PL records held by Chelsea

Manchester City broke three Premier League records held by Chelsea FC as they thrashed Brighton 3-1 at the Etihad.

Danilo started the scoring with his third league goal of the season before Leonardo Ulloa scored an equaliser for Brighton in the 20th minute.

Bernardo Silva’s goal made it it 2-1 – City’s 104th goal of the season and this saw City break Chelsea’s record of 103 goals which they managed under Carlo Ancelotti in 2009/10.

Fernandinho scored City’s 105th goal of the season in the 72nd minute as yet more Chelsea records were broken.

The win meant City overtook Chelsea’s record of 30 wins which Antonio Conte’s side achieved last term.

Incredibly, Guardiola’s side have racked up 95 points in the Premier League, eclipsing Chelsea’s 93 points tally in the 2004/05 season and still have Southampton to play at the weekend.

Speaking before the match against Huddersfield, Conte told Sky Sports: ‘We have to try to win these last two games because this is the only way to try to continue to keep the hope alive for a place in the Champions League.

‘I think in the last month we have been doing this to get three points in every game. We must do this until the end but it won’t be easy.

‘Today we are playing against a team fighting to avoid relegation and in their last game they drew with Manchester City.
‘For us, we must try to win.’
