Mbappe wants to leave PSG in January with Premier League club his only option

Kylian Mbappe wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain in January and Liverpool are the only club the French champions will sell the player to, according to reports.

The 23-year-old was embroiled in a transfer saga this year with PSG and Real Madrid fighting for his services with the club winning the battle at the final moments and retaining the player for another three years.

Many expected the La Liga club to acquire his services as Los Blancos are a team Mbappe has always wanted to play for and supported the club as a child.

According to Marca, the Spanish outlet are now reporting that Mbappe’s relationship with PSG has completely broken down after he asked to leave permanently in July, just two months after signing his new deal in Paris.

Marca reports that during the contract talks Mbappe struck a deal with the French club where he agreed on a condition that he would not leave Paris for Real.

Therefore, Mbappe would only be allowed to join Liverpool as it doesn’t breach the condition, but whether the Reds would have the financial capability to make such a deal happen is uncertain.

This transfer seems very unlikely as PSG will not want their superstar to leave during the season and it seems to be just another story with Mbappe in the headlines.

Speaking to The Telegraph in May, Mbappe revealed that Liverpool had made an approach before he signed his new contract with PSG.

‘We talked a little bit, but not too much. We talked a little bit,’ Mbappe said. ‘I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don’t know why, you will have to ask her!

‘It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club.’

Meanwhile, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez accused Mbappe of ‘changing his dream’ after he signed a new deal to stay at PSG.

‘His dream was to play at Real Madrid,’ Perez told El Chiringuito in June. ‘We wanted to do it last August and they didn’t let him leave, he kept saying he wanted to play at Madrid and 15 days before that changed the situation.

‘This is not the Mbappe I wanted to bring, he is another one, who must have changed his dream.

‘He changes, he is offered other things, he is pressured and he is already another footballer.

‘There is no-one at Real Madrid above the club. He is a great player, he can win more than others, but it is a collective sport and we have values and principles that we cannot change.’
