Mourinho mocks ‘crying’ Man Utd after Anthony Martial’s red card

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho rubbed salt into the wounds of Manchester United after his team’s 6-1 win at Old Trafford.

United were humiliated in their own home groud by a ruthless display from Tottenham, who inflicted the joint-worst defeat of the Premier League era on the Red devils.

The hosts took the lead through Bruno Fernandes’ penalty but Heung-Min Son and Ndombele put the visitors ahead and they were banging on the door to extend their lead before Martial’s sending off.

The United forward struck Erik Lamela in the face after the Argentine elbowed Martial while Mourinho’s side were preparing to take a corner. The two incidents appear to be similar but it was Martial that was sent off.

United were already a goal behind and their day went from bad to worse as Spurs scored two quickly to effectively wrap up the three points.

Solskjaer was angry with Martial’s sending off and spoke with the officials after the game but Mourinho has taken a dig at United by saying they’re the last team that should complain about VAR decisions.

Asked about the sending off and if United had a good reason for complaint, Mourinho said: ‘I didn’t watch it [back], maybe later I will but if somebody can cry about VAR decisions it’s Tottenham. Not just this season but last season. ‘If somebody cannot cry for VAR it is Manchester United for sure.’

Mourinho took a dig at the fact that Manchester United were awarded a match winning penalty after the full time against Brighton last week.

And United were even awarded a penalty after just 28 seconds when Davinson Sanchez tripped Martial, though Mourinho could not complain about the decision.

He was, however, unhappy that Tottenham conceded a last minute penalty against Newcastle last week that denied them all the three points.
