Jose Mourinho ‘in shock return to Man Utd’ as friend reveals plan to replace Ten Hag

Reports suggest that Jose Mourinho is actively considering a remarkable comeback to Manchester United.

Currently without a job after his AS Roma departure, Mourinho sees Old Trafford as his ‘unfinished business’ and is determined to manage the team again in the future, driven by his previous stint in charge earlier in his managerial career.

In 2016, Mourinho assumed leadership of Manchester United, succeeding Louis van Gaal. However, his tenure came to an end in December 2018.

As per The Daily Mail, Mourinho expresses a keen interest in collaborating with the revamped management at Man United. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have taken control of football operations, marking a significant aspect of the businessman’s 25% investment in the club.

“His ambition is to return to United,” a source said of the situation. “He feels like he has unfinished business there after how it ended last time and he had made it his mission to go back.”

At 61 years old, he led Manchester United to triumph in the Carabao Cup and Europa League during his inaugural season.

Subsequently, he secured a second-place finish in the Premier League in the subsequent campaign.

Returning to Manchester United appears improbable, considering Erik ten Hag is only in his second season at the club after being appointed in April 2022.

The Dutchman faces increasing pressure as his team struggles in the current season. With a challenging campaign, their sole opportunity for silverware rests in the FA Cup, given their current ninth-place standing in the league.

Meanwhile, Mourinho, recently dismissed by AS Roma, has been associated with managerial positions in Saudi Arabia.

Following his departure from Manchester United, he assumed the reins at Tottenham before making a move to Italy.

Familiar with revisiting his previous clubs, the Portuguese manager returned to Chelsea after his initial tenure at Stamford Bridge.

During his second stint, he clinched both the Premier League and League Cup with the team.
