Nabil Fekir’s agent has confirmed the interest of Liverpool in signing the Lyon midfielder but warned a deal is not close.
Fekir was outstanding for Lyon last campaign – his first as club captain – as he scored 21 goals and also made nine assists in 39 appearances for the club.
That form has attracted the interest of Liverpool, according to Fekir’s agent Jean-Pierre Bernes, but he claims talks between the player and the Reds is yet to take place.
“Talks with Liverpool will only happen when there is an agreement with Lyon and Jean-Michel Aulas gives the green light,” Bernes told French outlet Le Progres.
“Liverpool’s interest exists, but for now nothing is done. The transfer window is long. Other clubs could show interest.”
Bernes’ comments is similar to those of Lyon president Aulas, who said last week he had not discussed the player with Liverpool .
“I do not have an appointment with the leaders of Liverpool. There is no urgency at all. We are perfectly serene,” Aulas told Lyon’s website.
Fekir himself, said last week a transfer to Liverpool was not close and he was considering offers from a couple of clubs.
