Chelsea target Osimhen congratulated by Drogba after Nigeria beat Cameroon

Didier Drogba, the iconic figure of Chelsea, joined the celebration with Victor Osimhen as Nigeria secured a 2-0 victory over Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations last-16 on Saturday.

Ademola Lookman scored two goals, contributing to Nigeria’s impressive performance in the attack.

In the AFCON quarter-final on February 2, Nigeria is set to face Angola.

Osimhen’s club future has been a topic of intense speculation since Napoli owner Aurelio de Laurentiis revealed earlier this week that the 25-year-old will depart the Serie A champions at the end of the season.

Recent reports suggest that Osimhen has already made the decision to join Chelsea in the upcoming summer, as Mauricio Pochettino’s team is eager to strengthen their squad with a new central striker.

Later that evening at AFCON, Osimhen encountered a legendary Chelsea striker, Drogba, who extended his congratulations following Nigeria’s triumph over Cameroon.

The duo were also together on Ivorian network NCI where Osimhen said: ‘It’s an honour to play on the land of Didier Drogba, my idol.’

Speaking this week, Osimhen confirmed that he has already made a decision concerning his future at the end of the campaign.

‘The rumour is going around about me linked with the Premier League,’ Osimhen told CBS Sports.

‘Of course, when you’re one of the hottest strikers in the world you expect this type of thing, the EPL it’s one of the biggest and best leagues in the world.

‘For me, I’m with Napoli, signed a new contract and enjoying my time there with the team, at the end of the season I’ve already made up my mind, I already know what I want to do in my career.

‘Since I’ve started, I’ve been the one making my own decisions on everything and it’s working out well for me, even though when I started it didn’t go so well.

‘I already have my plan, I already know the next step I want to take, so for now I just want to finish the season strong.’
