Manchester City are considering offering Sergio Ramos a two-year contract if the defender doesn’t renew at Real Madrid, according to ESPN.
City are looking at offering him a contract based on the player’s form and own priorities: a two-year deal, with the possibility of a third if performance allows, or the alternative of playing in Major League Soccer at City Football Group’s New York City FC.
Ramos’ contract at Madrid expires on June 30 and his priority is still to renew at the club, but he will leave if an agreement with Florentino Perez cannot be reached.
According to reports, a meeting between the club skipper and president is planned for the next few days when a final decision will be taken.
Discussions have stalled since the start of the season, and it was reported in January that City had taken an interest in Ramos.
City lost the Champions League final to Chelsea in Porto with a centre-back pairing of Ruben Dias and John Stones. And Guardiola believes a footballer pf Ramos’ caliber would increase the competitiveness and experience of the team in such big matches.
Eric Garcia is leaving to return to Barcelona and Nathan Ake played only a limited role last campaign due to injuries — making just 10 league appearances — while Laporte has gone from a starter to substitute over the last two years.

ESPN claim that City’s data analytics suggest Ramos’ physical performance is akin to that of a younger player, which is why the club would be willing to contemplate a two-year deal.
Ramos is knows about City’s interest but wants to speak to Perez before taking his final decision.
He would like a two-year contract at Madrid, but the club have been unwilling to make an exception to their year-on-year policy for players over the age of 30.
