PSG players discussing Zidane arrival with Pochettino ready to join Man Utd

Zidane on Pochettino

Paris Saint-Germain players believe Zinedine Zidane’s arrival at the French club could be ‘imminent’, paving the way for Mauricio Pochettino to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.

Pochettino is United’s first choice to become their new manager after the Norwegian’s departure on Sunday.

With Michael Carrick serving as caretaker manager this week, the Red devils had planned to appoint an interim boss until the end of the campaign.

Those plans could yet change however with recent reports suggesting Pochettino would be willing to return to the Premier League now, rather than waiting until the end of the current campaign.

Zidane is believed to have already informed United that he is not keen on the the vacant position at the club and is currently only interested in managing the French national team or PSG.

According to Marca, there is already an idea within the PSG dressing room that Zidane’s arrival is ‘imminent’.

The report adds that players are already privately discussing the possibility of the France legend replacing Pochettino, sensing the move could happen soon.

While PSG are 11 points clear at the top of Ligue 1, Pochettino is reportedly very open to taking over at Old Trafford.

The former Tottenham manager is said to be unsatisfied with the culture of PSG where his role is strictly a first-team coach with footballing issues overseen by sporting director Leonardo.

The Argentine manager’s family have also remained in London during his time in Paris. And the Manchester Evening News claims Pochettino is ready to leave PSG and join United now, potentially leaving Zidane free to take the hotseat in Paris.
