Ralf Rangnick told a Manchester United supporter that he is ‘dreaming’ after being asked if the club will sign Erling Haaland, Declan Rice and Jules Kounde this summer transfer window.
The footage of Rangnick’s interaction with the fan emerged after the Red devils’ goalless draw with Watford at Old Trafford.
The result has kept United in fourth place but Arsenal are only two points behind with three games in hand. They could also be overtaken by Tottenham as Antonio Conte’s side are five points behind but have two matches in hand.
United supporters are already calling for more investment in the team after another campaign of inconsistent performances.
But when one fan proposed to Rangnick that the club should go for Kounde, the Sevilla defender who was close to joining Chelsea last year, Rice, who is wanted by both United and Chelsea, & Haaland, who is set to leave Dortmund this summer, the German replied: ‘What are you dreaming?’
Rangnick’s response was met with laughter from the fan, while the United head coach continued to sign shirts.
Speaking in the January transfer window, Rangnick suggested that strengthening United’s midfield would be one of his priorities.
‘It doesn’t help if there is a profile missing,’ said Rangnick. ‘We need to work and want to work with the players we have.
‘We have shown we are able to keep clean sheets with these players but it’s also what we’re doing with the ball and without the ball.’
